Classic Waffles - Recipe

Hubby flies through a box of waffles in no time. This year for his birthday, I bought a classic waffle maker and every weekend I make some for him. I modified my waffle recipe from Betty Crocker's. You can find that original BC recipe here.

Sassy Wine Belly - waffles

I usually double the recipe to make two batches. Each batch, using 2/3 cup batter per waffle, makes 7 waffles.

  • 1 C organic whole wheat flour
  • 1 C organic white flour
  • 1 T organic sugar
  • 4 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1-3/4 C milk
  • 1/2 C organic coconut oil, plus more for brushing on waffle maker

  1. Mix the dry ingredients together in a medium-sized bowl.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients together in a large bowl.
  3. Lightly brush the waffle maker with coconut oil and preheat it (5 minutes works for mine).
  4. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  5. When the waffle maker is heated properly, pour 2/3 cup batter onto it and cook until golden brown (5 minutes for my waffle maker).
  6. Serve with organic maple syrup.

  • Leftover waffles can be frozen in a gallon-sized plastic freezer back. Separate waffles with parchment paper.
