The Hess Collection - Napa, CA

The Hess Collection has such a beautiful tasting room and grounds!

Look for the lion as you approach Hess!

I would love to do a tasting under these beautiful vines!

The gorgeous, symmetrical landscaping is simple and elegant.

The fish pond offers families with kids some entertainment value!

The Hess Collection tasting room is intimate, but with the tall ceilings it feels spacious.

Austin poured our wines for us. We shared two tastings ($25 each), which included:
  • Hess Small Block Petite Sirah Rosé 2015 ($22 a bottle) - fruity, slightly sweet and thick
  • Hess Small Block Pratt Vineyard Pinot Noir 2014 ($50 a bottle) - red fruit, good acid
  • Artezin Evangelho Carignan 2013 ($26 a bottle) - dry with flavors of chocolate and leather
  • Artezin Evangelho Mourvedre 2012 ($32 a bottle) - lighter than the Carignan, jam and tea with a dry finish
  • Artezin Garzini Ranch Petite Sirah 2012 ($36 a bottle) - fruity, jammy, dry, strong tannins, medium bodied, chocolate finish
  • Hess Small Block Syrah 2013 ($38 a bottle) - smoky, spicy, dry, strong tannins
  • Hess Small Block Petite Sirah 2013 ($38 a bottle) - very dry, medium bodied, dark fruit, cocoa finish
  • Hess Allomi Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 ($32 a bottle) - also included in this blend are Petite Sirah, Petite Verdot, and Malbec; flavors of dark chocolate, leather and tobacco
I liked all of the red wines, especially the Petite Sirahs.

Here's a peek at the wine cave.

This gorgeous ivy formed such a pretty pattern up the exterior wall.

The Hess Collection provides a wonderful experience and wine tasting!
