The Judgement of Paris, AKA The Day that Shook the Wine World!

Forty years ago is week, the world of wine was shaken to the core as French judges chose two Californian wines, one white and one red, as the winners in a blind tasting with several top French wines. Read about that incredible day here.

If you'd like to see a dramatized version of the event, check out the movie Bottle Shock, starring Alan Rickman and Bill Pullman. Wine lovers will find it entertaining.

I'm not a huge fan of wines from California. Most tend to be rich and jammy with high alcohol content (14%+). However, I always enjoy visiting Napa and Sonoma to see how CA wines continue to evolve.
