Fruity, almost like cough syrup, okay


Tormaresca Neprica, Puglia, Italy - $10.99
Dark fruit, earthy, spicy, a little sweet, like cough syrup, okay


Bubo Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, CA - $7.99
Dark fruit, sweet, not great

La Morosa Pier Barbera d'Asti 2006, Piedmont, Italy - $15


Also had this wine at EG and AG's. It is an Italian Barbera from Asti, which is part of the Piedmont region.

Aroma - red and dark fruit
Taste - tart fruit, a little wood, moderate to strong tannins

Okay, but not sure I'd buy it in the future.

Roureda Llicorella Red Blend 2005, Priorat, Spain - $18


Had this at EG and AG's. It is a blend of 40% Garnacha, 40% Mazuela, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, and 5% Tempranillo. It was rated 91 by Wine Spectator, and retails online for $15 to $22/bottle.

Aroma - red and dark fruit
Taste - red and dark fruit, dry, strong tannins, sweet tobacco

Had this wine at Nundini's Chef's Table Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar in Houston, where it retails for $19.50/bottle.

Aroma - spicy red fruit
Taste - red fruit, dry, light spice

Yummy with the bruschetta, fritto misto, Caesar salad, and penna all'arrabbiata.
