Mexican Food Extravaganza - 6 dishes, 3 red wines

What a wonderful way to celebrate with friends. Mexican-inspired bites and fabulous drinks!

Although we miss CG, we toasted him with his favorite - Veuve Clicquot!

We also enjoyed a few tequila sunsets in NS's official US Senate glasses!

Vina Robles Red 4 2009, Paso Robles, CA - $15
This wine is a blend of 42% Petite Sirah, 28% Grenache, 22% Syrah, and 8% Mourvedre.
Aroma - red and dark fruit, a little hot (14.9% alcohol)
Taste - red and dark fruit, dark cocoa and black tea, moderate tannins

Nieto Senetiner Reserva Pinot Noir 2010, Mendoza, Argentina - $13
This wine retails online for $13/bottle, although it's also available at the Austin Wine Merchant for $8.75. It is 100% Pinot Noir.
Aroma - light red fruit
Taste - light red fruit, light black tea, soft tannins

Proyecto Garnachas de España La Garnacha Salvaje del Moncayo 2010, Ribera del Queiles, Spain - $11.25
I purchased this wine at Austin Wine Merchant. It's one of my go-to wines!
Aroma - bright red fruit
Taste - bright red fruit, light black tea, soft to moderate tannins
So yummy!!!

Among the bites we had chips/queso/salsa, jalapeño poppers, Mexican lasagna, Mexican taco soup, chicken quesadillas and guacamole, and chipotle brownies. So yummy!
