Paul Mas Estate Single Vineyard Collection Carignan 2009, Languedoc, France - $13.75

This French wine is 100% Carignan and retails for $13.75/bottle at Austin Wine Merchant, where I tasted it earlier today.

Aroma - dark fruit, pungent (like blue cheese)
Taste - dark fruit, strong black tea, wood, moderate tannins

Seems like this wine would be good with food - will have to try it with some.

Update - May 13, 2012

Tasted this wine at Central Market, where it retails for $15/bottle. It's listed as "vieilles vignes" which means old vines, but has no official designation or definition.

Aroma - dark fruit
Taste - dark fruit, acidic, inky
