Barking Frog, Woodinville, WA

RB and TB brought us to this fabulous restaurant for an early birthday celebration! It's nestled in the middle of Woodinville wine country, so you know it's going to be good!

Here are the restaurant's wine and dinner menus. We started by ordering our wine, of course!

Laurine Pinot Noir 2008, Willamette Valley, OR - $15/$60
This wine was recommended to me by our server to go with my Sea Scallops & Sous Vide Pork Belly.

Aroma - red fruit, spice
Taste - red fruit, tobacco, soft tannins, dry, long finish

Very nice and subtle. I like this one a lot!

Evening Land Pinot Noir 2009, Columbia Valley, WA - $19/$76
Our server suggested this slightly fuller-bodied Pinot for D's Seared Ahi.

Aroma - fresh red fruit
Taste - red fruit, spice, soft tannins, tobacco, currants, cocoa finish

Another nice Pinot - I really liked them both!

In addition to my main dish, we were served Rosemary Bread with Tomato Tepanade and had an appetizer of Petite Scallop Beignets. I also had a Mixed Green & Herb Salad with chèvre and strawberries. Both wines went great with everything!

RB and TB both chose white wines to go with their Oven Roasted Alaska Halibut dishes. RB chose the Chateau Ste. Michele Riesling Eroica 2009, Columbia Valley, WA at $15/glass and $60/bottle. TB chose the DeLille Cellars Chaleur Estate Blanc 2009, Columbia Valley, WA at $12/glass and $45/bottle - it's a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon. I didn't taste either of these wines so I don't have any tasting notes for them, but both RB and TB really enjoyed their wine/food pairings!
