Luigi Bosca Reserva Malbec 2007, Argentina - $17

MS brought this Argentinian Malbec to pair with dinner tonight. I found it online for approximately $17/bottle, and it's rated 90 points by Wine Spectator and 88 points by Robert Parker.

It was a very rich wine made in the old world style, which imparted an earthiness to it in addition to the dark fruit and coffee that I smelled and tasted.

Update - April 7, 2011
Had this wine at Piranha Killer Sushi - it retailed there for $12/glass and $46/bottle.

The wine is a little musty and smoky, tasting of dark fruit, dry, with moderate tannins.

I like it and would purchase it again. It went great with all of the sushi rolls we had, including the fantastic Vietnamese Summer Roll and the Spider Roll.

Domaine des Corbillières Pinot Noir Rosé 2009, Touraine, Loire Valley, France - $15

This rosé is 100% Pinot Noir from the Loire Valley in France. I found it online for about $15 a bottle.

It was very nice and dry, and went great with our appetizers and salad tonight (roasted olives, loaded potato chips with green onion dip, artisanal greens salad with ripe peaches and French goat cheese and Champagne vinaigrette). A very refreshing summer wine!

I like the bouquet of this wine better than the taste of it. A maybe in my book, but there are better choices out there in this price range.

Josh Raynolds from Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar gave this wine 88 points. It retails for $12.95/bottle at Royal Blue, where I tasted it with Erica from Avante Beverages, the wine's distributor here in Austin.

Aroma - apples

This wine is unaoked, so it's not bad. I'd probably opt for a different white varietal, but this is an okay wine.
