Pepperwood Grove Pinot Noir 2008, Valle Central, Chile - $6

This Chilean Pinot was the second of three wines I tasted today at Whole Foods. It is definitely not a good choice, even at this price point, which is actually two bottles for $11.99. There are so many better choices that would go well with Turkey (this being the day prior to Thanksgiving) - the first that comes to mind is one of my favorites, Vincente Gandia Hoya de Cadenas Reserva Tempranillo 2004 - $10 at Whole Foods.

Aroma - wet dirty sponge
Taste - bitter fruit

Needless to say, I wouldn't waste my $11.99 for two bottles of this. I'd go with a $10 Tempranillo first. I'm surprised that Whole Foods has chosen this as a current Top Ten Wine.
