Cousiño-Macul Sauvignon Gris 2006, Maipo Valley, Chile - $13.75

This was the second of five wines we tasted today at Austin Wine Merchant. It's a Chilean wine that is actually produced from a grape varietal that is believed to be a mutant of Sauvignon Blanc. It's a grey grape - hence the name Sauvignon Gris!

Aroma - apricots
Taste - dry, bitter, tropical fruit without being sweet

Robert Parker rated this wine 86 points. I didn't love it, and will probably choose a Sauvignon Blanc over this any day.
